Counselling Poster - Giroscope

DESIGN DONATION
I decided to create this workmanlike piece of clear communication to bring awareness to Giroscope's FREE counselling service and encourage people to give it a crack by stating the simple compelling truth that counselling really can help on a number of fronts. The poster also answered some of the questions that might intuitively come up as barriers to engagement and it does all this in an easy, pressure free way with a clear call to action at the end.
I was during this time (and still am currently) a volunteer counsellor with Giroscope, and it definitely seemed to buck a trend from a trickle of new clients to a moderate enough uptake to keep me busy, particularly of men engaging with the service, which was the objective.
Giroscope was conceived and developed in the mid-1980s by a group of students and young unemployed people who decided to take direct action to resolve their own housing situation. Establishing a Workers’ Co-operative and registering as a Limited Company in the summer of 1986, Giroscope members purchased their first house using their Giro cheques for a deposit and set about redeveloping the property to provide accommodation for the unemployed.
