It’s time to level up
PERSONAL AEROSOL ART PROJECT
I'm trying to bring some kind of counselling / mental heath / personal growth messaging into my street-art and this is my first attempt at that.
‘Is this counselling related though?’ you’re probably not asking. Well, yes it is. It’s an important beginning in my conscious journey to integrate previously disparate but important parts of myself - the graphic designer, animator, traditional illustrator and letterist, and counselling advocate and practicioner - and maybe even develop supporting income streams in art and digital production in the mental health sector.
As for the theme of the mural. It’s a motivational message to myself, specifically developed with a Disney-like approach to the style, which represents to me a glorious time where the craft of drawing was prized, before the grotesque era of SpongeBob and the anti-craftsmanship of South Park.
Craft, graft, dedication and a respect for those who shone bright by putting that work in before us actually means a great deal to me and I think that this philosophy needs to be carried forward.
