When my mum was around 73 she decided she'd have a go at writing down the fascinating stories she used to tell me and my siblings about her life (we did nag her occasionally to do it also).
And for over a year she dedicated herself seriously to that task, and by the end of it, she had produced a fascinating and beautifully written autobiography.
She's never written anything like that before, and her natural humility never allowed her to wallow in the pride I think it deserved, but she was happy with it.
Then to illustrate how easily she seemed to make things happen, she got the (main) book into our local Waterstones and even had a book signing session :) ...oh, and I did the design.
